How It Started
Eric Rieger founded WEBIT Services in 1996 with a straightforward premise: treat clients the way you would want to be treated, and build a business that could stand behind that promise every day.
Within the first decade, WEBIT had already shifted away from break-fix IT, the model where a provider only shows up when something fails, and into proactive managed IT, long before most MSPs recognized that model as the future. That decision came from the same place as the founding: a belief that clients deserved a partner who prevented problems rather than waited for them.
In 2022, WEBIT became officially employee-owned. The transition formalized what had always been true in practice: everyone here is personally invested in the work. When a client succeeds, the team that supported them shares in that success. When something goes wrong, the same team has real accountability for making it right.

What We Believe
These values are not aspirational. They describe how we operate today.
Have a hungry heart
We look for better ways to serve. Every client relationship, every support interaction, and every technology decision is an opportunity to improve on what we did before.
Bring a positive mindset
Every challenge has a solution. Our team approaches problems with patience, optimism, and the steadiness that comes from 30 years of experience working through difficult situations.
Move forward together
We win as a team. That means clear communication, genuine support for one another, and treating every client relationship as a long-term partnership rather than a transaction.
The People Behind the Work
Every person you work with at WEBIT is an employee-owner. These are the leaders who shape how we operate and who are accountable, personally, for the work we deliver.
Serving Chicagoland beyond IT
WEBIT’s commitment to the communities it serves extends beyond technology. The same values that shape how we work with clients shape how we show up in the region we call home.
Food pantries and hunger relief organizations serving DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties
Organizations providing food and essentials to local families with dignity and respect
Programs addressing hunger, mental wellness, and long-term self-sufficiency
Organizations supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities
Housing and support services for children and families experiencing abuse, neglect, or homelessness
Mental health, senior services, and community support programs in the northwest suburbs
WEBIT is also a member of the Illinois Library Association, reflecting a long-standing commitment to public institutions and community access to knowledge.
Two divisions, one set of values
WEBIT Services operates two divisions. SecureBit is our managed IT and cybersecurity practice, serving Chicagoland businesses with 20 to 200 employees. This site is focused on SecureBit.
Upstream Impact is our SaaS division, building software for nonprofits and food access organizations. Upstream Impact products include PantryEasy and Care Impact Tracker.
Recognized for doing business the right way
Most IT companies are owned by private equity, a distant parent company, or a founder who’s mostly checked out. WEBIT has been employee-owned since 2022 — certified through the National Center for Employee Ownership.
These recognitions reflect the standards WEBIT holds itself to, verified by third-party organizations, but third-party validations from organizations that evaluated how we operate.
